It was her special day...but his worst nightmare.

A rekindled romance wasn't part of the plan.

Despite his American background, August O'Leary is the most sought-after wedding planner in London. Naturally, Libby and Edward come to him for a wedding the city will never forget. But Edward is an international businessman, so the details are left to Libby and her best friend - who happens to be the love of August's life and the one who broke his heart eight years ago Christopher Burke.

How's August supposed to pull off the event of the year with Christopher distracting him and old feelings crashing the party uninvited?

Christopher has let money and status dictate his life, but no more. His failure to stand up to others' expectations cost him his future with August - one he hoped would include marriage. Now he has to face August's hurt and anger and prove he's still the best man to make August happy.

Not a world-shattering story but, still, a good read. In my head, I kept seeing "Notting Hill" and "Four Weddings and a Funeral", and all those fancy accents, with everyone saying "Yah?" and "Well done, you" . A low-key story with not much happening, when you boil it all down. The guys' problem didn't seem that insurmountable. Written well, dialogue flowed easily, just no real high drama.

August came to London from Boston for college and met what he thought was the love of his life with Christopher. They were in love all through college and planning their life together until Christopher dumped him. Even though it was about 8 Years Ago, August has never really gotten over it . He lives his life as a party planner and still lives in London, he has great friends and loves his job . August has never really had any other relationships since. He thought Christopher was his forever until he wasn't. Christopher realized as soon as he let August go that it was the worst mistake of his life. He knew they were from two different worlds but that did not stop them from falling in love . He let his family tell him what to do and he let all him go . He also has gone on with his life but has always wished for a second chance with August . When his best friend Libby gets engaged he goes with her to meet the wedding planner . When he walks into the office and see who the wedding planner is , he cannot believe his eyes . When August sees Christopher he cannot believe it either and gets angry . Over the past comes back to him and he can't believe that Christopher has come back into his life . From there Christopher believes he can get a second chance with August . August has been hurt so bad in the past from Christopher that he is not sure he wants to give him a second chance. But Christopher wears him down and they decide to try again. There were some good love scenes in the story but I did feel from this point on it went way too fast between them. I love August's straight best friend and how he tried to protect August from being hurt again. I did enjoy the story but as I said I felt it moved way too fast . There is definitely some additional angst in the story as well when August feels that Christopher has not changed when it comes to them being from different worlds . They break up for a second time and August leaves . I would have loved to see their story stretched out a little more and learn how they get over past hurts and start again . Overall it was a good read.
Second chances are almost always a win for me. I enjoy the redemption and groveling. I love it when obstacles are overcome and true love is given another opportunity. I especially adore it when they make it happen, despite their failures the first time around. O’Shea takes us across the pond and into the beauty and chaos of wedding planning with an unexpected twist. The best man is a flash from the wedding planner’s past. To say August has been harboring hurt feelings would be putting it lightly. Christopher broke August’s heart nearly a decade ago and neither have recovered. Fate brings them together again but their situation is still the same. Is their love strong enough to withstand their differences? Or is this a cruel deja vu leaving them brokenhearted all over again?

What's to like I liked Christopher, I loved August, and I found many of the secondary characters extremely endearing. I always enjoy a strong and well-rounded cast. Libby is sassy, sweet and strong-willed. She was a fun bride. August has resided in London all of his adult life and created a wonderful substitute family. It was awesome to see how much they loved him. August’s best friend Will is cheeky and protective. I also found Christopher’s furry son a lovely addition. Excluding Christopher’s parents, everyone was delightful and entertaining.

What's to love I love weddings. My heart flutters with all of the glitz and glamour. Make it a posh British wedding and you’ve definitely got my attention. I recently became obsessed with Downton Abbey. If I closed my eyes (I know I’m reading but go with it…please?) I could almost feel as though we were visiting Lord Grantham’s famous estate when Chris went home. However, fortune comes with high expectations and is often a double-edged sword.

Christopher lives a charmed life. He was born into wealth and nobility. He fell madly in love with a middle class American during University but tragically caved to the pressures of his family. Clearly we all know, money does not buy happiness and Christopher is a painful example. He hasn’t known a day of bliss since he turned his back on August. Then their paths cross a second time and Christopher is determined to win August back. August is older, wiser and refuses to make it easy. Words mean nothing this time, Christopher will have to prove his intentions with solid actions. Trust is never easy to get back but I was rooting for Chris the whole time.

Beware of I think the ending was a tad rushed and could have been stronger. I was a little disappointed with how a particular moment was handled. And a frustrating misunderstanding had me cursing at my kindle. It almost ruined things for me but I was smiling again before the final pages.

This book is for If you are drawn to the recovery of lost love as well as opposites attract, this is a guest list you’ll want to make.
So it's probably just my own preferences but I've never been a fan of stories that rekindle past relationships, so this book, while likable characters and good writing, just fell flat for me.
This was another wonderful addition to the Dreamspun Desire collection. MJ O'Shea doesn't disappoint..well written and interesting. Absolutely lovely! Well done.
I admire August"s work as a wedding planner and his friendships with his coworkers. Christopher's struggles with his social class are pretty believable. He has to struggle to get through the social barriers his parents and friends create. There is a very warm, heartfelt feeling between the two men. This is a challenging romance but it feels really good and puts a smile on my face.
